Bliss died Thursday at his home in Westlake. He was 18.
He was born Andrew H. Bliss in Cleveland and had been treated for the cancer intermittently since he was 2 years old. He was still determined to live a full life. He was an all-star in Westlake Little League baseball.
He played football in the Westlake Recreation league until surgery forced him to stop.
He was able to continue with basketball in the Rocky River Recreation League and was the leading scorer in 1997 even though he had radiation therapy for seven weeks of the season.
He played summer baseball in 2000.
Bliss enjoyed music as well as sports. He played guitar with the Discord band.
When he saw he could not go to OSU, he attended Baldwin-Wallace College in a wheelchair.
Bliss is survived by his parents, Thomas P. and Diane Hoty-Bliss; grandmother, Koula Hoty of Rocky River; his friend, Vonnie Buemi; a brother, Daniel; and a sister, Elizabeth.
