S. David Blinn , an advisory partner in Gibson , Dunn & Crutcher LLP's Orange County office , joined the firm in 1970.As coordinating partner of the firm's Employee Benefits Practice Group , Mr. Blinn concentrates his practice in employee benefits and compensation matters , including ERISA and related tax , securities , banking , insurance and labor relations law.

Mr. Blinn's practice includes the representation of both privately and publicly held companies as sponsors of various employee benefits plans.He also has represented entities acting in other capacities with respect to employee benefits arrangements , including trustees , investment advisers and benefits plan fiduciaries , and single-employer , multi-employer and public pension funds.

Mr. Blinn graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law , where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an Editor of the Law Review.Excluding a leave of absence for service in the Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps , he has been with the firm continuously since 1970.

A member of the Board of Advisors of the Sentinel Pension Institute and the California Business Law Institute , Mr. Blinn has written and lectured extensively on subjects relating to employee benefits , including handling employee benefits plans in mergers and acquisitions and complying with the IRS non- discrimination rules.
