   Mary Blinn, veterinarian at the Animal Control Bureau, said a number of pets have been euthanized in recent months after they came in contact with a rabid animal and had not been vaccinated.
   
   "It's really sad, and it's not necessary," she said.

   "These animals have been traumatized by the storm and it is our job to care for them, gather their information and try to reunite them with their proper families," said Dr. Mary Blinn, shelter veterinarian for Charlotte/Mecklenburg Animal Control.
