Mary dedicated her life to the education of children. Her philosophy was that every child has an unlimited capacity to learn and should be provided with challenges by which they could excel and succeed.Mary's success in educating children has been reflected by the many letters of thanks she has received over the years from former students thanking her for "instilling in them the importance of education."
Mary was an active member of the Kappa Gamma National Teachers Sorority, Teachers Association, and, of late, the Retired Teachers Association. In her early years in Santa Barbara, she was also an active member of the Dolorian Club of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Everyone who knew Mary will remember her resistance to being the center of attention. To respect her final wishes there will be no public memorials or services. However, Mary would like very much to be remembered in your hearts and especially in your prayers.Mary will be taken to Davenport, Washington for burial with her mother and father.
