Chuck Blinn, a physics teacher at Millwood High School for 12 years, won the 2003 Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences (APICS) / Canpolar science communication award.
This year is the first time that the APICS awards have had a teacher recognition category.The award that Blinn won is presented to a teacher who encourages student's interest in science and technology.
Blinn is vice-principal at Millwood High School, but still teaches physics.He was recognized for his commitment to inspiring students through excellence in science teaching.He has spent countless hours of extra help outside of class time and has developed alternative learning methods that include creating and maintaining a physics Web site for his students.
Blinn is also the President of the Halifax County Science Fair Committee, Vice President of the Professional Development Committee for teachers in the Halifax County.He has presented at and attended science workshops across North America.
