    The Tasmanian Cricket Association (TCA) has signed star Zimbabwean all-rounder Andy Blignaut to play for the Cascade Tasmanian Tigers for the next three seasons.

    Blignaut signed with the Tigers following discussions in the Zimbabwean capital Harare last week.He is currently maintaining his fitness training in Zimbabwe and is expected to arrive in Tasmania in late August / early September to join his new Cascade Tasmanian Tiger teammates in preparation for the 2004-2005 season.

    TCA Chief Executive David Johnston said: "The TCA is extremely excited that it has been able to recruit a proven quality player in Andy Blignaut to play with the Cascade Tasmanian Tigers for the next three years.

    Blignaut, an all-rounder who possesses the ability to bowl with good pace and hit the ball hard, has played 15 Test matches scoring 638 runs at an average of 24.53 and taken 51 wickets at an average of 32.62.

    He has also played in 47 One-Day Internationals scoring 533 runs at 19.03 and taking 41 wickets at 43.39.

    Touring Australia with Zimbabwe last season, Blignaut was consistently the second fastest bowler in the international cricket series, behind Brett Lee.
