   Huron High School science teacher Roger Blevins is boldly going where few teachers have gone before. And he's taking his students along for the ride.
   
   Recently, Blevins, 35, joined 39 other elementary, middle and high school teachers as part of the Northrop Grumman Corporation's Weightless Flights of Discovery.

   Blevins said his experience was amazing, and it will ultimately benefit his students.
   
   "The goal of the program is to allow teachers to conduct experiments and bring back things that will excite kids that are in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields," he said. "This is the best way to do that. Get the educator fired up and then they will in turn get the students fired up, too."
   
   Blevins, who is in his eighth year at Huron, has 125 kids who really appreciate his approach.
   
   "I try to teach outside of the box. Last year I took students to the Florida Everglades and Key West. They went snorkeling and visited a turtle hospital," he said. "This year we are going to the Grand Canyon.

   Aboard the specially-modified Boeing 727 aircraft which took the teachers on the ride of a lifetime, Blevins showed how magnetic fields differ on Earth compared with a zero-gravity environment.
   
   "It was just an amazing experience. It is hard to control your emotions while experiencing zero G force," Blevins said.
