Dan Blevins , transportation supervisor for Dade schools , said he has never seen such traffic congestion in his 29 years with the school system.
In downtown Atlanta I don't think it could be that bad , Blevins said.
In an interview last week , Blevins said Dade County High School students who rode the school bus had been repeatedly tardy because of traffic congestion.
It doesn't interfere greatly with the primary or middle school , but high school students have been late every day , Blevins said.
Bus drivers turning on and off of Ga. Highway 136 at Ga. Highway 11 are having problems because of traffic backup , Blevins said , with some resorting to pulling into a fast food restaurant to make it through.
Blevins said traffic problems have been bad since school started , and are worse this year because traffic lights have been added near the interstate.
We have deep concerns about this , he said. There are too many lights too close together and I don't think they can synchronize them right. It's a major problem for our buses..
