The pouches, made of film that is slippery in nature, needs to be controlled all the way through the carton, says Tony Bless, vice president of sales at PMI Cartoning, Inc."We developed a cartoner that provides 100 percent control of the pouches, running at speeds of 180 cartons per minute," he says.
The front and back ploughs of the cartoner trap the pouches. The front ploughs move the product into the carton, while the back ploughs hold the product in place so the pouches do not slip out of the back of the carton. The ploughs hold the pouches in place until the minor flaps are tucked and the carton is ready to be sealed, Bless explains.
