   John is the Clinical Effectiveness Advisor at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust based in Stockton on Tees. He is also a trainer in critical appraisal at the BMA and is currently a Tutor in Health Informatics at the University of Sheffield.
   
   Previously, John was a business specialist with the Financial Times and the BBC. He then moved to healthcare librarianship as a subject specialist at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He moved into Clinical Effectiveness in 2004. Current research interests include facilitation methods in critical appraisal and media coverage of healthcare.
   
   John is a regular contributor to He@lthcare on the Internet and in 2005-06 has written articles on Men's Health, Occupational Therapy, Child Nutrition, Critical Appraisal and Health Economics.
