Management Sciences came to Albuquerque in 1976 when Blemel and his wife, company president Marlene Blemel, sold their computer software development company in Rochester, N.Y., and moved closer to the tech centers of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories.The company slowly built up over the years before really taking off at the end of the 1980s.The last five years, including 2003, it has been among the state's Flying 40, which recognizes the fastest growing technology firms in New Mexico.Blemel said the family plan for the family business is that it remain just that."It really took 14 years to develop our company," Blemel said.
