Sandy painted a public mural, "Can of Cardines" on a freeway underpass in Encino featured on the front page of the Los Angeles Times in 1975 that foretold our present transportation crises. She established the first OASIS cultural and wellness programs for seniors in Los Angeles. She served as artist-in-residence for the Beverly Hills schools and was co-author and publisher of an award winning interdisciplinary teaching program, "Art is About,"

    In 1995 (the 50th Anniversary of the end of WWII) Sandy orchestrated and produced an exhibition of her Hiroshima/Nagasaki Memorial Project in Japan and the US on a personal mission to heal the wounds of the war.
