JEFF BLEICH is a litigation partner in the San Francisco office of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP.
Mr. Bleich's practice consists principally of complex business litigation including appellate practice, intellectual property, media law, and employment law.Mr. Bleich has appeared before numerous federal district and circuit courts, every appellate district in California, the California Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.Representative clients include Fortune 500 Silicon Valley technology companies, telecommunications providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and new media companies, leading universities, and international securities as well as several manufacturing, and media concerns.

In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Bleich is the President of the California State Bar, Vice-Chair of the California State University Board of Trustees, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.In 2003, he served as the President of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and was appointed in 1999 by President Clinton to direct the White House Commission on Youth Violence.In 2004, Mr. Bleich served as the Co-Chair of the Lawyer Representatives to the Northern District of California Judicial Conference.He is presently the chair of the ABA's Amicus Curiae Committee and was elected in 2003 to the American Law Institute.
Mr. Bleich is an adjunct professor at Boalt Hall, where he has taught several upper-level seminar courses, including Appellate Advocacy, Constitutional Law, Habeas Corpus, and International Human Rights, since 1992.Mr. Bleich has lectured at numerous state and federal judicial conferences, and has published two books and over thirty articles on appellate courts.He is also a regular legal commentator for ABC News, Court TV and The Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Bleich received his B.A. magna cum laude from Amherst College in 1983, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University, graduating with highest honors.Mr. Bleich earned his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law in 1989, again with highest honors, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the California Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Bleich clerked for Judge Abner J. Mikva of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist of the U.S. Supreme Court, and Judge Howard M. Holtzmann of the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal at The Hague. -
