   Santo hometown boy Tommy Bleeker was among the coffee drinkers. He's there about every Saturday morning. He's not intimidated even though he's the head coach of the Lipan Indians. "I wouldn't have been there if we had gotten beat," he chuckled Saturday morning. He and his Indians survived a major scare from the much-improved Wildcats. Santo drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the contest into overtime, but Lipan prevailed 71-65 in the battle for the district lead.
   
   "We're just real lucky to come out of this with a win," Bleeker said. "We let them come to our place and outplay us." Lipan (16-7, 3-0) has dominated the series for years. In fact, the last time Santo (10-12, 2-1) won was its state title season of 1990. A new coach and new attitude, however, have given the Wildcats plenty of spark.
   
   "They played us a great game," Bleeker said.

   Lipan suffered 19 turnovers, several of which were unforced, pointed out Indian coach Tommy Bleeker. "But we found a way to win," he said. "We beat a pretty good team." Earlier in the season Dublin defeated fellow Class 2A school but state-ranked Peaster, a team that topped Class A Lipan. But the Lions have lost seven straight to fall to 8-8. Lipan meanwhile upped its record to 12-4.

   If Lipan doesn't play to its potential, Indian coach Tommy Bleeker assures, they could easily start the season a rare 0-2.
