   Walker's story may not be typical for every student at Spectrum, but for many who enter the classes at this computer training center, the skills they learn enable them to find better employment, and possibly more fulfilling lives, as a result, said Rick Bledsoe, an educational consultant and co-owner of Spectrum along with his wife, Melissa.

   Rick Bledsoe had worked for the company as a sales manager since 1999, when the business focused its efforts on training government agency employees and dislocated workers.
   
   When the couple decided to buy the company, it had already been sold once by the original owner and was coming out of a year of declining sales because of the economic downtown after the terrorist attacks of 2001 and the post Internet boom of the late '90s.
   
   Rick and Melissa Bledsoe said they knew they would have to find new markets for the company's training classes because the need for computer training had declined since the late '90s when the company was at its peak.

   These clients, along with Spectrum's corporate training customers that include such companies as the Health Alliance, Campbell Hausfeld and Argosy Casino, will help propel Spectrum into the $1 million mark in sales by the end of 2009, said Rick Bledsoe.In 2007, the company recorded sales of roughly $500,000 and expects close to $750,000 by the end of this year, he said.
