    MEMBER BIOGRAPHY - LYNN BLECHA

Lynn and his twin brother were born 4-25-15 and has an older sister. His parents were farmers in Wisconsin and they both died when Lynn was 10, so he lived with his Aunt and Uncle until graduation from High School in 1933.

Lynn went to Wayne State University in Michigan and graduated in 1937 with Degree in Business Administration. He then went to work for Quaker Dairies in the Accounting Department.

In May 1941 he was drafted into the army and later was transferred into the Army Air Corps where he worked in the Personnel Department. Lynn then went to Officer Candidate School and graduated in 1942 as a 2nd Lieutenant.

His twin brother was in the Navy and was killed when the destroyer USS Buck was torpedoed and sunk, a devastating blow to Lynn!

In September, 1944 he married Ruth Gow from Detroit and, after a week's honeymoon, was shipped to England for duty with the 8th Air Force. He returned to the states at Christmas time 1945 and separated from service as a captain in February 1946.

Lynn worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in the auditing department for 6 years until April 1951 when he was recalled to duty in the Korean Conflict. As a Captain, he was sent to Procurement school and was certified as a Contracting Officer, which means that he was responsible for awarding and administering all Base Maintenance Contracts, a duty he had during the rest of his service.

In 1952, he was sent to Newfoundland for three years. Lynn also had assignments in Wyoming, Texas, and Georgia, as well as over seas in England, France, and Germany . In June 1966 he was sent back to the states for retirement as a Lt Colonel.

Lynn and his wife felt fortunate and lucky to have adopted two beautiful girls, Carolyn and Barbara, who made their dreams come true. They traveled a lot, but liked Switzerland the best because of the beautiful country side and the friendly people. They went back to their home in Chelsea, Michigan and, from 1967-1975, he taught business subjects at the High School level. This was quite a switch from military service, but Lynn said it was a rewarding experience.

When the girls were both married and Lynn and his wife were both retired, they bought a 25 foot trailer and a Chevrolet truck and spent over two happy years traveling the Midwest, the far West, Canada, and Alaska.
