This year it's Furby and a Nintendo game called Zelda," said Lori Blau, Toys "R" Us inventory control manager for the Mid-Atlantic states, a title she says she somehow fits on her business cards.
"A lot of toys are hot now and selling great, but you don't hear about them because they're in great supply," Ms. Blau said.
...
"Furby wasn't scheduled for delivery to toy stores until October but by then parents read about it, thought it was a great idea and the demand was there before the product," Ms. Blau said.
But a big Furby Christmas won't ensure Furby's place on store shelves.
"Only time will tell if Furby is as big a hit as Cabbage Patch dolls because what makes Furby big is technology and technology advances so fast that this year's Furby may be obsolete next year," Ms. Blau said.
