Mike (mike.blasius@genuity.com) is a principal engineer in the Optical Network Engineering department at Genuity (www.genuity.com), formerly GTE Internetworking. He has 24 years of telecommunications experience and is currently working on ATM, the 'other' statistical network, to support wholesale DSL & dial Internet access transport. In his current job Mike also links Engineering to the Product Management department of Genuity, insuring that business cases exploit the current technological possibilities without exceeding their limitations. Before Genuity, Mike worked for GTE, which has subsequently merged with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon. At GTE he was the network planner for Frame Relay, and before that developed systems for central office and outside plant planning. Mike earned a BSEE from Western Michigan University and currently enjoys living in Texas with his wonderful wife Beverly.
