Bob Blasius, president of the Purdue Association of Indianapolis, Purdue's alumni group in Marion and Hamilton counties, said it's important for alumni to know the university is interested in what they're doing and is still there for them.
"The university is a part of a lot of people's lives. It's there for them when they need to come back for academic reasons, cultural events or sporting events," Blasius said."The Purdue Alumni Association keeps that out in front of us and is enthusiastic."
Blasius said he understands that giving to the university is a big part of the connection between alumni and Purdue and he believes events such as the Boilermaker Ball encourage alumni to open their wallets and purses.
