Dr. Roger C. Bird is a professor of economics at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., where he also holds the Frank M. Engle Distinguished Chair in Economic Security Research. In this capacity, Dr. Bird coordinates the annual Frank M. Engle Lecture and also supports the Master of Science in Financial Services graduate program of The American College by researching and teaching selected topics in financial services, including security analysis, portfolio management and mutual funds. He joined the College in May 1995.
In addition, Dr. Bird serves on the board of directors of the Global Interdependence Center (GIC) at the Fels Institute of Government of the University of Pennsylvania. He served as GIC president from 1992 to 1994.
Prior to joining The American College faculty, Dr. Bird was senior vice president of the WEFA Group (formerly Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates) from 1980 to 1995. He held various positions as manager of economics with the IBM Corporation in Armonk, N.Y. (1967-1980), and was also an instructor of economics at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
Dr. Bird graduated from Lafayette College in 1960 and received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. He and his wife, Ruth Flemings Bird, reside in Blue Bell, Pa. -

Roger Bird is professor of economics at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where he also holds the Frank M. Engle Distinguished Chair in Economic Security Research. He served as president of the GIC from 1992 to 1994. He also consults regularly on portfolio management and allocation with various nationally recognized investment management software firms.
