It's also a good opportunity for agencies that help women, including single mothers, improve their lives and their children's lives to make a difference, said Deb Binversie, supervisor/parent educator at the Family Resource Center.
"Our whole mission of course is supporting and educating parents and helping them enjoy their parenting role," Binversie said.
"And so when a group approaches us and says they want to really recognize parents for what they do - for being a parent and being very intentional about their love and what they do - parents don't always get the positive strokes from community."
Binversie said anything that helps parents feel like the work they're doing is appreciated, and feel like people support their efforts is good.
"It's something to recognize you for what you're doing," she said.
