    The new DCCCD trustee previously served as president of Hospitality Connections Inc.; as vice president of MHM Inc.; as manager at Pannell Kerr Forster Management Advisory Services; as a well as a variety of managerial positions in the hotel industry in Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois.Binford also has served as a guest lecturer in the hospitality industry, for hotel organizations and at seminars.He has spoken at the University of North Texas, addressing graduate-level students about hotel development, and he also has shared his expertise with students attending Oklahoma State University about career opportunities in the hotel industry.

    Binford has been actively involved in several civic and municipal organizations, where he has served: as a member of the appraisal review board for the Dallas Central Appraisal District; as former chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Film Commission; and as a member of the board of directors for the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce.

    Binford earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Houston's Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.He also has enrolled in commercial and investment real estate courses at DCCCD.He is married to Pam, his wife of 23 years; they have two children: Will, age 19; and Katie, age 15.

    The Dallas County Community College District is a comprehensive two-year system with seven campuses: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland colleges.The district also operates the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development, a job training and business services center, and the R. Jan LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications, which provides distance learning products and services to educational institutions, business and industry, and individuals worldwide.The DCCCD board of trustees represents seven districts in Dallas County.

    Jeff Binford, the club's president, said he feels there are different types of people opposing action.

    "I've witnessed two different kinds of anti-war protesters.There are the reserved ones who respect most people's beliefs.They say 'I don't like war, I don't think this is the option,' and that's their opinion.Then there's the ones who need to be in your face saying that this is 'Republican propaganda,'" Binford said.

    Binford added that he feels those who oppose war "have good reasons."

    However, he said, "The people who are trying to turn this into something that it's not are very ignorant to the situation.
