I finally got one after I had been discharged for 15 years I always wanted to get the bulldog with campaign cover on my arm but never did get around to it for whatever reasons.
So on my 37 th birthday my younger brother and a friend took me to a friend of his tattoo shop and paid for my tattoo making thid Marine a happy camper.
...
I could not think of a more fitting tattoo than the Sergeant stripes that I so proudly earned.
...
I finally got my USMC tattoo in 2006.
...
I finally got my Oohrah tattoo!
I did my time in the Marine Corps, which in my opinion wasn't long enough.
I miss it like crazy! i've been out for over 3 years already, but i still brag about being a Marine.
Like they say, once a Marine, always a Marine, and trust me, I have not forgotten that!
...
This is my Tattoo, I waited 35 years before getting one.
...
Trying to find soemthing to describe who I am; a thought came over me.
I wanted to show my pride about being a Marine Devil Pup.
I went to my local tattoo artist ( the shop's owner is a former Marine).
I told him I wanted a design made around the globe and anchor.
He told me to come back in a few days and he will show me his design.
A few days later I was back at the shop.
The moment I saw the design, my eyes filled with tears.
It was so awesome.
After two hours of work, I must say he did a splendid job.
I went to the American Legion that night to show my dad ( he is commander of the Legion).
He was so proud and gave me a big hug.
Now I can't go to the Legion with out showing all the vets.
I am so proud of my father and my stepfather.
They have served the Corps proudly.
It was the least I could do to show I was proud to be a Devil Pup... forever.

Tattoo by Bill Bill's Tattoos in Kalispel, MT.

I personally think the new ban on our hard charging devil dogs getting ink done is STUPID!!! so we can go to foreign countries and lay our lives on the line but we can't get tattoos on our body!!!!
The Commandant says we don't want to tarnish our polished looks....come on now we are MARINES....we get down and do the dirty stuff nobody else want to do, that is what we are known for.
Not for being neat and clean and polished.
...
I just wanted to share my husband's tattoo and why he chose this design.
...
And it was actually designed by a fellow Marine.
It was an awesome design and my husband proudly wears this tattoo on his back.
...
The guy did such a poor job that I told him to stop before he started the artwork.
Fast forward 25 years, I decided to have it covered up.
After seeing a couple of photos on your site, I decided to have two versions blended into one.
This is what the guys at Southern Tattoo in Hattiesburg, MS were able to come up with yesterday . I had forgotten how much these darn things hurt.
...
Just got this done last week and I am already thinking of adding more.
Marine Mom Sisters
We are Marine Moms who are also sisters.
...
I wanted to get someting original and personal to me, so I decided to have my ribbon display done.
Had it done on the inside of my left arm (Unfortunately I could not have it done on my chest as I already have a tattoo there) Thanks to Rick Johnson (also a Marine) of Best Tattoos in Orlando for the work.
...
I served from 1970-75 and again briefly in 1977 to attend OCS (PLC) at Quantico.

I had the opportunity to serve with both the 1st and 3rd Air Wings on the east coast and lovely destinations across the Pacific.
Interesting times, but when back in the world, people couldn't have cared less regarding the sacrifices made by my generation.
Through it all I remained a fiercely proud (if somewhat silent) Marine Sergeant in retrograde.
When my 18 year old daughter announced to her mother and I in 2004 that she had decided to become a Marine, I was filled with pride and more than a little bit of concern.
Needless to say she has made the transition from a contrary, stubborn, hardheaded teenager who hung around with booger-eating moron losers, to an intelligent, considerate, responsible Corporal of Marines.
If our beloved Corps should find itself in need of a recruiting model for posters--she's your man!
This past July, she married another Marine who would also make good poster material, and they are currently stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni Japan.
Both are members of the elite Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting MOS and they are in constant competition to outdo one another on their PFT scores.
In my years as an active duty Marine I was never able to get drunk enough to get a tattoo, but when my daughter Errin wanted to get matching tattoos, I couldn't resist.
...
As far as I am concerned, all is personally forgiven for the lukewarm (at best) reception given to my generation of the Armed Forces in the 60's and 70's.
...
I wanted a large eagle, globe and anchor covering my left shoulder but wanted something original.
Kinda hard to make something original from such a distinguished and common design.
I sent some basic ideas along with the history of the symbol to my sister-in-law who is attending the Art Institute of San Francisco.
She has no concept of the military at all let alone the Marine Corps so I figured she would be able to come up with something a bit original and sure enough I loved what she came up with.
I got the tattoo done in Okinawa by "Blue" who works out of his home by Camp McTureous in May of 2006.
...
I would like to add my tattoos to your web page.
...
I served with 4th Tank BTN, 4th MAR DIV 1987-1995
I got my EGA right after I got out and the Teufel Hunden last year.
...
I always come on your page looking at everyone's tattoo's.
I have been wanting a memorial tattoo to honor the friends of mine I lost in Afghanistan.
I served there in 2005.
My deployment was cut short because I was hit by a IED.
...
I am an avid reader of my Sgt.
Grit e-mail publication and have often viewed the tattoo section.
Well here I am on the right with my brother on the left 30 years later with new tats.
His very first and my fourth.
We were both "newbie's" together at Camp Schwab "Kilo" 3/9, 0351's in 1975.
We then ended up, both of us as Troop Handlers at Infantry Training School Camp San Onofre.
Him with Delta Co. and I with Alpha Company.
We were then discharged, honorably of course, in 1979.
He is presently serving with a civilian consultant in communications with an Army unit in Mosul Iraq.
...
Az he casually mentioned that he has been wanting an EGA tat and I said, let's go.
