School Board Member Amy Funt presented a special Crystal Apple Award to Bertie, and acknowledged Bertie�s �significant, ongoing, broad-based and altogether remarkable contributions to Carmel Unified,� which include the bond election, the Hilton Bialek Habitat project, and the new Carmel High theater project.

The board has announced its intent to name the theater after Bertie.
Bertie�s contributions to the theater project total $1,000,000.
Her initial pledge of $500,000 provided valuable momentum for theater project.
Her subsequent $500,000 donation is earmarked to create a black box/TV studio space as well as a feasibility study regarding the use of environmentally-friendly photovoltaic cells in the project.
