    Diane A. Bettino is a partner in Reed Smith's Princeton office. Ms. Bettino concentrates her practice in complex state and federal litigation, particularly in the areas of financial services, insurance coverage and environmental disputes. Ms. Bettino has successfully defended cases involving alleged fraud in the marketing and sale of certain types of insurance products. She recently obtained favorable closure in a matter involving numerous claims of alleged fraud for overcharges relating to excess wear and damage on returned leased vehicles.

    Ms. Bettino also has handled commercial and residential environmental liability disputes, including Superfund matters. She has obtained successful results for environmental clients seeking insurance coverage relating to the remediation of contaminated sites. In addition, Ms. Bettino has successfully represented clients on a variety of litigation matters in areas including employment law, health insurance and school law.

    As a member of the Bars of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Ms. Bettino appears regularly in those Courts on behalf of her clients.

    Ms. Bettino has authored numerous amicus briefs on behalf of various New Jersey trade associations on issues such as the application of strict liability to fuel deliverers, and the applicability of overlapping regulatory schemes on the development of environmentally sensitive areas.

    A classical pianist, Ms. Bettino attended Temple University, where she graduated with a degree in history and a concentration in music. She graduated from law school at the College of William & Mary in 1991. While at William & Mary, she co-authored an article for the Environmental Practice News titled "Can It Happen Here?" which was ultimately the catalyst for reformative legislation in Virginia the following year involving the Chesapeake Bay. During law school, Ms. Bettino clerked for two professors and was recognized by Rodney Smolla for her work on his Treatise entitled "Smolla & Nimmer on Free Speech," Matthew Bender, 1994.

    A member of the State and National Bar Associations, Ms. Bettino is actively involved in her community where she serves as counsel for the Friends of the Pennington Library and as a member of the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
