Giorgio M. Betti received his degree in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 1984.The same year he joined the Video Group of SGS (now STMicroelectronics), Castelletto, Italy, where he was involved as an analog designer in the development of CRT video amplifiers, flat panel IC drivers, and 38.9 MHz video IF.In 1990 he joined the Data Storage Division of STMicroelectronics, where he developed a frequency synthesizer, a pulse qualifier, and finally combo R/W channel ICs for HDD for both peak detection and PRML systems.Later he became responsible for the divisional System Design Group.Currently his area of interest includes high-speed serial interfaces and UWB.He holds several U.S. patents, and is serving on the ISSCC Signal Processing Committee.
