   Paul Bettenhausen graduated from Ohio State University, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture. In 1978, he joined a nationally recognized urban design, planning, and landscape architecture firm in Southern California. After working as a senior designer and project manager for approximately six years, he enrolled in graduate school in order to broaden his capabilites and obtained a Masters Degree in Architecture at UCLA.
   
   After graduate school Mr. Bettenhausen maintained a consulting practice for several years until joining Gruen Associates as a designer/planner. Paul also gained valuable experience while in the employ of other prominent Los Angeles architectural firms, including RTKL and MCG, where he developed a comprehensive knowledge of the planning and design principles in retail, commercial, resort/hotel, themed entertainment, civic, institutional and residential project types. Internationally, he has lead planning and design efforts for projects in China, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Mexico, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.
   
   Paul joined Borthwick Guy Bettenhausen, Inc. as the Director of Design in 1999.
   
   He is a registered Landscape Architect in California, a guest lecturer and studio critic for the Cal State Fullerton environmental design program, and serves as a design instructor in the extension program at UCLA.
