   Although they attended The Gunnery at the same time, Kurt Soderberg '89 and Elizabeth "Betsy" (von Seggern) Soderberg '91 didn't associate with each other.
   ...
   Flash forward a few years later: On the way to a party with a friend in NYC, Betsy found herself in a bar asking for directions. It was there that she ran into the acquaintance from her Gunnery school days who would become her future husband. Kurt recognized Betsy and approached her in the bar.

   "It was awful," said Betsy. Some of Kurt's friends got wind of it and crashed the event. "I stayed for about an hour. Then I went home," she said. "The second date was much better."
   
   Over time, Kurt and Betsy found themselves getting closer.
   ...
   Betsy likes her down time after a long day. After five o'clock, Kurt's day is just getting started. It was an adjustment at first, but their difference in personalities and life styles ended up balancing each other out.
   
   In 1999, Kurt and Betsy were married in Terrytown, NY with over 200 people in attendance.
