   Her early years, were spent in Islington St. Mary with her aunt Aida Bethune who is her father's sister. She later returned to Galina where she attended Galina Elementary School.
   
   Her academic performance was of such a high standard that she was awarded a scholarship to Carron Hall Vocational School. She excelled both in the area of academics and culinary skills. However, it was her passion for teaching that helped her to gain a job as a pre-trained teacher at Galina Elementary School.
   
   During her tenure at this school she saw the necessity to qualify herself as a trained teacher as this was the vocation she loved. So it was off to Kingston and the Teacher training College of Shortwood.
   
   After graduating from this prestigious Teachers' College for women of class, she went to teach at Water Valley School for a short period. She next moved to live in the city with beloved Aunt Lyn and Uncle Son.
