Syd joined First Response in March 2002.Syd, a professional firefighter since 1997 is also the medical training coordinator for his shift, including emergency medical responder, CPR and defibrillation instruction and training.Syd is also certified in hazardous material at the first responder level and has completed "confined space access and rescue" training.

Syd is a graduate with honors and holds a Diploma in Paramedicine and works as a paramedic on a part-time basis.
