Robbie Best is an emerging artist who works in several mediums. A retired social worker, Robbie's work reflects her interest in people. She is an avid doll collector and this is reflected in her work. Recently she has started during Abstracts. As a very young child, she loved to sketch with a pencil, fascinated by different faces and expressions, and as a teenager she would spend hours drawing her favorite movie stars. She took her very first art class about ten years ago. She took her first Oil and Watercolor class last year. Her problem is that she likes every facet of art and has a hard time focusing on a particular art medium. Her favorite is sculpture because it allows her the opportunity to created in dimension, as opposed to the limitation of a flat surface. Perhaps this is why she is drawn to jewelry. She makes jewelry out of various materials, including paper, always striving for something unique and different. She has taken classes and workshops from various places, including Joyce Ivoryís Young Artist & Company, the Center for Creative Studies, Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and the University of Michigan at Dearborn. -
