Best said there will not be cafeterias in any of the dorms but four people will share a kitchenette area and the two roommates will share a bathroom.
Texas College features a single parent support program that provides childcare. Best said about 86 students are involved in the program now and one of the dorms will be dedicated to these parents and their children.
"One of the complexes will be designed a little bit differently because it is designed for a parent and their children," Best said.
The single-parent dorm will have 100 family units, which includes a room for the parent and a separate room for the child.
The residential hall project is anticipated to be finished by December just in time for students to move in for the spring 2005 semester.
The second phase of additions for the college will include a wellness center and student union, Best said.
"We think this will not only enhance but help increase our enrollment," Best said.
