Bessert takes job at RockyBy HAP FRY HapFry@coloradoan.com
After five years as an assistant high school girls basketball coach, Berry Bessert is getting the chance to run his own program.
Bessert, 52, who previously coached at Fort Collins under Kyle Tregoning, now will direct Rocky Mountain's girls program.
...
"Terri did just a phenomenal job," Bessert said.
...
The cupboard definitely will be far from empty for Bessert. The Lobos will return three of their top six players off a team which went 21-4 and advanced to the Class 5A state quarterfinals.
Rocky Mountain athletic director Wayne Moddelmog expects Bessert will step right in and pick up where Keyworth left off.
...
That ended up working fine for Bessert, a part owner of Northern Colorado Mortgage Company.
Though he holds no previous head coaching experience at the high school level, Bessert is comfortable with running things.
Eleven years ago, he started the Northern Colorado Girls Basketball League for junior high age kids.Last summer, he was the head coach of a highly competitive high school club team.
"I feel comfortable and confident that I'm ready to be a head coach," Bessert said.
