   Mrs. Besser attended St. John's Catholic Grade School and St. John's High School. She stayed in Houghton to care for her mother after school, and lived in the Harper community after her marriage. She remained in Harper until September of 1995 when she moved to Halcyon House in Washington. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society in Harper. She became a member of St. James Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Washington Country Club and several bridge clubs after moving to Washington. She spent the winter months in Arizona from 1980 to 2000.
