   Leon founded the firm in 1989. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit (B.S. 1960) and his law degree from the Detroit College of Law (J.D. 1963, cum laude). Following his law school graduation, Leon spent four years with the law firm of Butzel Long in Detroit. He then served as a senior staff attorney in the product liability section of The Office of General Counsel of Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan before returning to a civil trial practice in Detroit. In 1970, Leon moved to Phoenix and joined what was Arizona's oldest firmEvans, Kitchel & Jenckesbecoming a partner of the firm in 1974. When he left to form the firm, Leon was a senior partner and chairman of the Evans, Kitchel litigation department. Leon has been lead trial counsel in many high exposure personal injury, medical malpractice and insurance bad faith cases. He has written articles on insurance bad faith and punitive damages for the Defense Counsel and Arizona Bar Journals and has lectured on the subjects as well. He has served on the Executive Committee of the 2,500member International Association of Defense Counsel, has chaired several of its committees, including the Committee on Accident, Health and Life Insurance Law, and taught at the Association's nationally acclaimed Defense Counsel Trial Academy. Leon is a member of the State Bars of Arizona, Florida, Michigan (inactive), the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Counsel and is certified as a specialist in injury and wrongful death litigation by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. He has worked with leading defense attorneys throughout the southwest in the firm's expanding role as regional counsel for a variety of insurance companies.
