   According to Larry Bess, Culver's associate director of admissions, it's simply never been needed at his school.
   
   Because a school with too many international students isn't appealing to foreign parents, the issue has managed itself.
   
   With students hailing from 20 different nations, Bess feels Culver has struck the right balance, creating what he calls "a United Nations in the middle of a cornfield."

   This June will mark the retirement of Richard Davies (36 years) and Joan and Larry Bess, who are in their 26th year of service.
