Mr. Andre Besner

Through the considerate efforts of the Ambergris Caye Chamber of Commerce (ACCC), an invitation was extended to Mr. Andre Besner, a volunteer urban/town planner of the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO), to review the San Pedro Master Plan for Development and provide objective recommendations for infrastructural development.Mr. Besner, a Canadian with over 20 years experience as an international urban planner and consultant, was invited to come to Belize through the incentive program of the Small Tourism Enterprise Project of the Organization of American States.

The Belize Tourism Board's (BTB) Product Development Department saw the need for a town planner to assist major tourist destinations on the way forward for infrastructural development because of their sudden increased growth in tourism arrivals."The Product Development Department of the Belize Tourism Board believes that Mr. Besner could provide San Pedro with insightful, transparent and objective recommendations for its Master Plan," stated Tessa Matus, Product Development Department Officer, BTB.

Besner will look at the overall infrastructure and plans already developed and make a recommendation to the people, and the people should then lobby government for his recommendations.

Through the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce, who will cover Besner's expenses while on the island, the urban planner will give San Pedro three days to do as much as he can.The Chamber of Commerce has given all plans for Besner to overlook while working in the other cities, so as to have better insight to San Pedro's problems before he even arrives for his three days.
