Gregory Besek is a Shamanic Priest, minister of The Circle of the Sacred Earth Church, and Director of The Center Pole, an organization which he founded in 1994. The Center Pole is dedicated to "keeping ancient spiritual traditions alive".
Greg began his formal spiritual training in 1972, becoming a solitary monk with the Hindu brahmacharya vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Late in 1974, he was accepted to live in a Hindu Ashram (monastery) in New Haven, CT, where he lived for an additional five years under the tutelage of Guru Maharaj Ji from Hardwar, India.
Beginning in 1982, Greg was trained in a number of healing modalities, including deep connective tissue massage, swedish massage, reflexology, Reiki, Mari-El healing, N.L.P., hypnosis, cranial sacral therapy, chelation therapy, counseling and more.
In 1989, Greg began in depth studies in Shamanism and ancient healing techniques. He is a graduate of The Foundation of Shamanic Studies three-year program facilitated directly by Michael Harner. Greg has made pilgrimages to Nepal, working with Tibetan Shamans, and has studied with numerous shamans from various cultures worldwide. He was raised Roman Catholic and has also been on a lifelong student of world religions. He now runs a full-time therapy/healing practice in East Haddam CT.
The "Roots" trainings are offered in various formats consisting of approximately 70 hours of class work.
