[2] C. N. Annadurai (1909-1969): Breaking up with his political guru, Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, Annadurai, who was affectionately called Anna, walked out of the Dravidar Kazhagam and founded the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.When the party came to power in 1967, he became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu state.Anna was an excellent orator, organizer, writer and administrator.

[4] Annie Besant: "Towards the end of 1913 Annie Besant began definite work in the Indian political field delivering in October and November a series of stirring addresses on social and political reform.These bore the general title of Wake Up India.The founding of a weekly paper, The Commonweal was followed in 1914 by the purchase of the Madras Standard and renamed under the name New India.Her powers of organization and oratory, her skill as a journalist and her knowledge of the correct methods of agitation learnt in England at the feet of Mr Bradlaugh enabled her to accomplish her task and give hera hold on the intellectual section of the community.Annie Besant's ideals and theories were clear cut and left no doubt as to her aims.

The needs of India as Annie Besant saw them were, among others, the development of a national spirit, an education on Indians ideals and enriched, not dominated by the thought and culture of the West.
