Aaron Bertrand was born and raised in a small northern mining community called Timmins. Being a boy growing up in Timmins meant you played hockey. Aaron participated in many tournaments and games much to his father's approval. His hockey career ended at age thirteen when he discovered the Cadet Program. His teenage years were very active with the Algonquin Regiment Army Cadet program in which he participated in several camps. During his final year with the Cadets, Aaron was awarded the Legion Medal of Excellence . In 1992, Aaron joined the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve. A year later he was sent over to Europe for one year with the Canada Remembers Unit following the footsteps of our Canadian soldiers who fought in the Second World War. Aaron retired from the Reserves in 1998 and moved to the Kawarthas. Here he attended Sir Sandford Community college and after three years graduated with an Aquaculture Technicians certificate. Aaron is a member of the Lindsay Optimist Club and enjoys curling with the Bobcaygeon Curling Club.
