   Sheila Bertram, retired director of School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta, has been appointed to the Edmonton Public Library Board.
   
   Bertram graduated with a bachelor of library science degree from the University of Toronto.She worked at the University of Alberta for several years before going to the University of Illinois where she earned her Ph.D. in library science.For 25 years, she taught at the University of Alberta, School of Library and Information Studies.For the last nine years of her career at the University of Alberta, she served as dean and director until her retirement in 1996.
   
   Professional associations Bertram has served as executive included the Library Association of Alberta, the Canadian Association of Library Schools, and the Canadian Library Association.
