    Scot Bertram

WROK Afternoon News Anchor Scot Bertram is a native of Darien, Ill. Scot attended North Central College in Naperville, Ill., where he majored in broadcast communication and political science. At North Central, Scot was Sports Director during his senior year. He provided the play-by-play for all of the North Central men,s basketball games and covered high school sports in the DuPage Valley Conference. He was also very involved in the news department, anchoring WONC,s coverage of both the 2000 Presidential Election and the September 11th attacks.

After interning for ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago, Scot was hired as a production assistant in July of 2002. He was promoted to assistant producer of the ,McNeil, Jurko, and Harry Show, on ESPN 1000. He left the station in August of 2003 to pursue his dream of being on the air.

Scot moved to Rockford in 2003. He spent one season as the Director of Media Relations with the CBA,s Rockford Lightning. He served as the voice of the team during broadcasts on WROK. A highlight over the past year also has been providing the broadcast for the Winnebago Indians, Class A semi-final and championship games in Peoria here on WROK.

You can hear Scot in the morning with Riley O,Neil at 9:40 talking about the days, events in sports. Scot is a huge baseball addict and is a die-hard White Sox fan. He almost has learned to tolerate Cubs fans. Scot is also a music devotee, owning almost 700 CDs. He counts the Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, the Black Crowes, and Wilco among his favorites artists over the years. Scot has a vast knowledge of trivial information which so far has been an unmarketable skill. He does hope to one day cash in on a television game show.
