Bernstein has been involved with the schools since moving to the district 18 years ago.

Bernstein works as a social studies teacher at Village School, an alternative public high school in Great Neck.He has a bachelor's in history and a master of science degree in computer systems from Binghamton University.In 2000-01 Bernstein also took graduate courses in
education at Adelphi University.
ISSUES: Bernstein said, "As a parent, teacher, businessman and taxpayer, I have the unique ability to view educational issues from various perspectives, ask the right questions and support decisions that best meet the needs of our children and community."
Bernstein said that although the district has an excellent academic reputation, "we've had a challenge in ... recruiting, hiring and keeping good" staff."We need to find a way to enhance our reputation within the educational community to make Jericho a place not just where parents want to send their kids to school, but where educators and administrators want to work," he said.
