Jeff Bernstein is the co-founder and portfolio manager at Keel Capital Management, a Connecticut based investment firm managing long short equity focused hedge funds since February 2005.Keel invests in all industries across the global economic spectrum.Our specific focus is in companies that are affecting or being impacted by a material disruptive innovation or change in business process.Keel attempts to capitalize on the significant value creation and destruction cycles inherent during periods of innovative upheaval through collaborative original research on where meaningful change is occurring, and where risk and reward are concentrated.
Mr. Bernstein has twenty years of experience in the investment business, nearly all of it in TMT equities.Prior to co-founding Keel, Mr. Bernstein was a partner, analyst and portfolio manager at The Galleon Group from 2000-2002 where he managed the New Media fund and the Polaris fund.Prior to that, Mr. Bernstein was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and Co., where he spent ten years.Mr. Bernstein was responsible for starting the industry's first institutional equity sales force dedicated to selling technology equities, and built relationships with both Goldman's largest institutional investor clients, as well as the senior managements of many of the industry's most important public TMT companies.From 1985-1989, Mr. Bernstein served in various capacities for Irving Bank Corp. and the Bank of New York, including equity analyst and positions in strategic planning and investor relations.
Additionally, Mr. Bernstein was an initial investor in Marquis Jet Partners, where he also served on the Board of Directors.Marquis Jet is a leading company in private aviation.Mr. Bernstein currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the Master's Program at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.He has a BA from Cornell University (1983) in history, and an MS from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (1985) with a focus on International Business Diplomacy and Country Risk Assessment.
