Vote for Jeanne Cleveland BernsteinEditor:In every judicial race, probably not unlike every other lawyer, I am asked by non-lawyers the same question: Who should I vote for for judge?Since judicial candidates are precluded from running on issues. The criteria for selection should include legal competence and experience, intelligence, fairness, honesty, integrity, proper demeanor and personal qualities that one appearing before a judge would hope that judge possessed.
In the March 16 race for the 9th judicial subcircuit, my choice is an easy one…Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein. In fairness, since Jeanne is my wife and mother of our three wonderful daughters, I admit to a possible lack of objectivity, so, I look to her record. In her 32-year legal career Jeanne has earned the respect of her peers. She is past president of the North Suburban Bar Association, past chair of the State bar judicial polling committee; member of the bar task force that wrote the State child representation laws and is in her third term on the assembly of the State bar.
She has served our community selflessly on numerous not-for-profits.As the six-year elected Democratic Committeeman, she has been instrumental in the election of progressive candidates.

In fact Jeanne is the only candidate in any of the primary races who has the unanimous support of all these Evanstonians. So putting aside the fact that I love her, when people ask me for whom to vote, I will tell them that Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein has earned my respect, admiration and my vote.

I came to know Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein when she was president of the North Suburban Bar Association. She was tireless in her efforts for the organization both then and now.She is well recognized for her legal ability, amiable temperament and devoted public service. She was honored by the North Suburban Bar Association when she was presented with its President's Award for Outstanding Service to the Community and the Bar."
If you want to elect a judge that will work hard, that will be fair and that you can be proud of, vote for Jeanne for judge.

We want to commend Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein to your attention in the March 16th primary, where she is running for Judge. As Evanston residents we can think of few other persons who have proved as dedicated to public service in our community as Jeanne. If you live in Evanston, the chances are that Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein has already touched your life. She was a member and later president of the PTA and was a Board Member of the Evanston School Children's Clothing Association. As a board member of the ETHS Booster's Club, she and her husband Steve devoted many hours to the school.
Jeanne served as board member of the Evanston/North Shore YWCA.She was also co-chair of the Evanston United Way and a volunteer with the Evanston Youth Job Center. We could list many more contributions to our community, but we trust that the idea is clear-anything she can do to help others, she does.Jeanne is an exemplary citizen and knowing her, we can assure you that she would make an exemplary Judge. She deserves your support.

We are neighbors of Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein.Over the years, we have come to know Jeanne as a close friend, as a devoted parent to her children, as a kind and helpful neighbor, and as a citizen dedicated to making her neighborhood and community a better place to live. She has the kind of temperament, dedication and sense of fairness that ideally suit what we would all want in a judge.
