Jean Benson Bernstein has worked for WinnResidential, Boston, MA, for over 19 years.
In her current position as Winn's Director of Resident Services, Jean leads a team of 31 Resident Service Coordinators in the Eastern US, overseeing the delivery of service-enriched housing to residents in more than 10,000 affordable units.
Jean sees Resident Service Coordination as vital to a safe, well-run housing community, where residents have the opportunity to live the highest quality of life.
In Winn's model of Resident Services, the RSC provides proactive social service intervention and intensive support to residents in order to stabilize and preserve tenancy, and to promote resident self-sufficiency.
Jean is an experienced speaker and trainer on issues related to Resident Services and affordable housing in various venues on a local, regional and national level.
She also provides consultation to Assisted Living and Elderly Housing programs throughout New England.
Jean was involved with the 'grass roots' activities of NERSC in the late 1990's, and has served on the NERSC Board for 3 years.
She served one term as Vice President, and two terms as President of MARSCH (Massachusetts Association of Resident Service Coordinators in Housing.
She served on the New England Affordable Housing Association board for 4 years, and she is a member of the American Association of Service Coordinators.
Jean holds a BA in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Education.
She is a Certified Resident Service Coordinator in Massachusetts, has a professional designation in Fair Housing Compliance and is a certified Senior Housing Specialist.
Prior to her work at WinnResidential, Jean worked for 15 years in the field of human services and mental health, providing clinical and direct care to children and adults with special needs.
