Len Berlik joined National Starch and Chemical Company as a salesman in 1972 and then became Sales Manager for Specialty Adhesives in 1975.In 1982, he relocated to Zutphen, the Netherlands, and was responsible for Adhesives operations in Benelux, Germany and Denmark.During this time in Europe, Len was involved in numerous business expansion projects, including the construction of a major new facility to manufacture adhesives in Germany.
In 1988, Len relocated to London, England, as Divisional Vice President responsible for all Adhesives operations in Northern Europe.He was closely involved in the "Europeanization" of National's operations in the run up to the single market.Len relocated to Singapore as Corporate Vice President, Pacific Operations in 1989.
Len relocated back to the USA at the end of 1995 as Executive Vice President, Adhesives, and member of National's Board.He was responsible for National's $1.2 billion adhesives business.In this role, he directed the globalization of Adhesives operations and completed a number of acquisitions.He also served as a member of the Board of the National Starch and Chemical Foundation and the Adhesives and Sealant Council of North America.
Since 1 April 2000, Len is Executive Vice President, ICI Performance Specialties (formerly Industrial Specialties) for ICI, with headquarters in Gouda/Netherlands.He took on the additional role of Chief Executive Officer for Uniqema in 2001.Len has regional oversight responsibilities for ICI Group activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.He is also Chairman of the ICI Group Business Development Board and the European Works Council.
Len received a B.Sc. from the University of Tennessee in 1969 and an MBA from Xavier University in 1975.He has four grown children.He and his wife, Laura, enjoy skiing, golf and travel.
