Berkowitz Appointed to Nation's First Master of Bankruptcy Law Advisory Board.

- Ted A. Berkowitz , a partner with Farrell Fritz , P.C. , was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the nation's first Bankruptcy LL.M. program at St. John's University School of Law.

It is an honor to be appointed to the Advisory Board of the first Master of Law in Bankruptcy program in the nation , said Berkowitz.I am so pleased that the education system is recognizing that the practice of bankruptcy is complex and interdisciplinary , and requires a rigorous , specialized program to educate future practitioners..

The LL.M. program , scheduled to begin in the fall of 1999 , will require 30 credits for graduation and will offer each student a practitioner or jurist as a mentor and a limited enrollment to maximize individual attention.Since the practice of bankruptcy law is considered a specialty but actually is used in the practice of numerous fields of law , the new Master of Laws program is designed to integrate elements of various legal disciplines into a comprehensive post graduate program.The courses will cover subjects such as bankruptcy accounting , taxation , real estate , litigation , ethics and multi-national case management.

An often-published author on bankruptcy and secured lending topics , Mr. Berkowitz served as editor of the Bankruptcy Strategist , and is currently a member of its board as well as a frequent contributor.He frequently lectures for the New York State Bar Association , the National Business Institute and the Nassau County Bar Association , and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Bankruptcy Professionals and of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.He received his J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1983 , where he served as an editor of the Law Review.
