Bergin said Lone Oak Village opened in April 2005 with 88 lots.

"Now, only 15 lots are left," Bergin said."It was one of those products that was just a niche for custom home buyers.We sold 40 in our first year."

Women like to make their own choices about colors and design, Bergin said, and this product allows them to make those choices.

"You bring a plan drawn on a napkin, and we'll make it for you," Bergin said.

"We have a lot of single women coming to us.These are professional and technical women.They are savvy.They don't want to be told ‘Here's a plan, take it or leave it.' They want to be able to have what they want."

Bergin said the women buying homes at Lone Oak Village have great buying power.

"They are not all are pinching pennies trying to make it to the next payday," she said.

The ability to make choices is one of the main attractions of Lone Oak Village, Cunningham said.

"Single moms may want a larger bedroom or bigger closets," she said.

Bergin said she studied the demographics of the 70 contracts written on homes in Lone Oak Village.

"Almost every other house has children," Bergin said.

"We have neighborhood parties all the time.It helps being right next door to (a) Deer Creek school.The east side of our community butts up against the school."

The community is neighborly, too, Bergin said.

"Hordes of neighbors walk to the school together in the mornings and then at 3:30 p.m. they are walking home again.It's very picturesque," she said.

The homes themselves are cottage-like with porches on the front, and many feature cedar shakes on the front gables, she said.

Bergin said having a furnished model home was helpful for women while they were planning their own homes.

"There was candy for the kids, a little play area and drinks in the fridge," she said.

The builder has been climbing the charts for the past few years.Each year, Builder Magazine puts out a list of the fastest-growing builders.

"We were 82 and 83 the last two years," Bergin said."This year we were named 63rd-fastest-growing.Most of those ahead of us are production builders."

Bergin said Brass Brick Homes builds from scratch, from the ground up.

"We have no prefabricated walls and no stock floor plans.That's a custom home, in our opinion," Bergin said.

"We started questioning home builder associations in Arkansas and Florida and other areas.The most I could find was a custom builder who built 50 homes in the 2,500-square-foot area.

"As a consultant, in my professional opinion, we were the largest custom home builders in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri."

Bergin said Brass Brick Homes is on track to build almost 100 homes next year.
