    Jostens and the Minnesota Timberwolves recognized Sgt.Connie Bennett as a Hero in the Making.

    Sgt. Bennett has been in law enforcement for five years and a D.A.R.E. officer for three years.As a D.A.R.E. officer, Sgt.Bennett uses her own life experiences to help inner-city youth.When Sgt.Bennett felt that some of the girls needed more time and attention, she formed a D.A.R.E to Dream team.

    Volunteering a lot of her personal time, paying for things out of her own pocket, transporting girls and filling in as a surrogate parent, Sgt.Bennett took a multicultural group of young women and turned them into a dance team.These girls took great pride in designing their own costumes and choreographing their routines.These girls were given a dream, and Sgt.Bennett helped make it a reality.

    In addition to D.A.R.E., Sgt.Bennett volunteers as a coach for basketball, volleyball and softball.As an instructor, coach , role model and friend, Sgt.Bennett has given her love, support and guidance and continues to give a piece of her heart to the lives of many St. Paul children every day.
